Immigrants ≠ Abandonment|Across 9716 kilometers from Hong Kong to London, adopt a stray dog Nugget!

In recent years, there has been a wave of immigration, and more and more Hong Kong people have emigrated overseas, including a large number of pet-loving families. Some families will overcome all difficulties and immigrate with their pets; however, many owners choose to be alone and abandon their pets. Volunteers from the animal organization LAP (Lifelong Animal Protection Charity) pointed out that the number of cases of abandonment of pets has increased by 50% under the immigration wave!

It is undeniable that under the complicated immigration procedures, it may be the most “convenient” way for the owners to abandon their pets. But there are always some people who are willing to give up the easy and take the difficult, and do everything for the animals, only wishing to bring a lifetime of peace and happiness to the animals! What the words refer to is the story of LAP and PET HOLIDAYS working together to rescue the stray dog Nugget and sending Nugget to London, England for adoption.

Nugget is a stray dog rescued by LAP in a dilapidated warehouse in Yuen Long. The character is timid and afraid of being ugly, easy to get nervous, plus the Tang dog breed, has never met anyone who is destined to adopt. In order to let Nugget get used to interacting with people and increase his chances of being adopted, Nugget was arranged to temporarily live in the home of Benjamin, a foster family.

The timid Nugget was initially terrified of coming into contact with Benjamin when he first arrived in a strange place. Whether it is taking a bath, cutting nails, or even something as simple as hugging, I am very resistant. However, Nugget had already brought Benjamin a “surprise” on the first night, that is, he urinated on the carpet at home, which made Benjamin very headache! As the time spent together grew, Nugget slowly let go of his heart and got closer to Benjamin. Just when he thought things were going in a good direction, Benjamin received a “no pets” notice from the landlord, asking Benjamin to send Nugget away.

Hong Kong has never been a pet-friendly city. Whether it is urban facilities or civic education, there is a lack of support and tolerance for animals. What’s more, if you have to take care of large dogs, you will often receive unfriendly treatment and stares. Benjamin has no choice but to send the Nugget who has adapted to human life back to the LAP shelter, and at the same time actively cooperates with the organization, hoping to find a permanent home for Nugget.

Finding adopters for stray animals or abandoned pets is already a difficult task in itself. And it’s even more difficult for the big Tang dog and the timid Nugget! I thought it would be a protracted battle, but Benjamin’s friend Fran in London expressed his intention to adopt Nugget! It turned out that Fran had already had a good impression of Nugget when Nugget was fostered at Benjamin’s house, and he was so strong that he hoped to bring Nugget to London to live together!

The fate of Nugget is like a roller coaster. There will always be hope at the end of the trough, but often when the dawn first appears, there are difficulties that need to be faced. Although Nugget was fortunate enough to be adopted by Fran, it was at a time when the epidemic was raging around the world. International flights were unstable. At the same time, they had to deal with overseas pet immigration documents and faced insufficient funds. All kinds of problems made Benjamin, Fran and LAP very troubled.

After learning about Nugget’s story, PET HOLIDAYS took the initiative to contact LAP and offered to sponsor Nugget to take a private jet to London in line with the belief of “pet • family • companionship”! After the rain, there will always be sunshine, Nugget has experienced many twists and turns, and finally ushered in a happy rest of his life! After 16 hours of flight time and 9,617 kilometers, Nugget finally arrived in London, met Fran, and started a new life!

For some people, pets may be just gifts or entertainment, so they can be easily given up when facing life changes. But to PET HOLIDAYS, LAP, Banjamin and Fran, they are important family members, an integral part of the family. Even if there are many difficulties, even if the procedures are complicated, it will not damage the determination of “pet • family • accompany you”! I hope to use Nugget’s story to encourage more families to consider immigrating with their pets when planning to immigrate, and not to abandon them. If you are afraid of trouble, you can entrust a trustworthy pet immigration agency, and PET HOLIDAYS provides comprehensive pet immigration services, including civil aviation and private jets, and tailors the most suitable pet immigration plan for you!

Update 01/21/2022: Nugget has adjusted to life in the UK, look how happy he is!
